The PTO sponsors and contributes to many wonderful aspects of your child's education: classroom supplies, Father/Daughter dance, after school sports, Trunk or Treat, Family Sock Hop, and field trips, just to name a few. In order to do this, PTO has set a fundraising goal for this year of $20,000. To reach this goal, we are offering our 1st Annual Direct Give Campaign and other ongoing fundraising activities such as collecting Box Tops for Education and grocery cards to the following stores: Albertsons, Frys, and Safeway, as well as our Spring Carnival.

Grandparents' Day

Grandparents and other older adults can be very important people in children’s lives. Children feel a sense of pride and accomplishment when they know that people in their extended family and community are interested in their education.

So we’re having a special celebration! Grandparents and Grand-friends Day recognizes the importance of our heritage, our community, and relationships across generations. We’re inviting the grandparents of our students to the event on Thursday, September 9, 2010. The schedule will be as follows:

                                       PS and Kinder (AM Session) 9:00-10:45 a.m.
                                      PS and Kinder (PM Session) 1:30-3:00 p.m.
                                            1st-8th Grade 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

Shami Sobecki will be on hand taking photos that will be available immediately on site. Donations are appreciated, but not necessary to take the photo home with you that day.

This event is intended for children and their grandparents/step-grandparents or a special “grand-friend”. We understand that all children don’t have grandparents, and that some grandparents will be unable to attend. We encourage these children to bring another special older adult—a family friend or other relative.

Grandparents and grand-friends will be able to have lunch with their grandkids on this day. The menu is listed below. If you would like to stay and enjoy lunch, the cost for adults is $2.00. Lunch service is from 11:15 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

• Roasted chicken
• Roasted potatoes
• Green beans
• Banana pudding
• A  variety of milk is also available as well as iced-tea
